Update on the Palmers Green East CPZ

28 February 2025

In August/September 2024 Enfield Council consulted residents on a proposed Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) covering the set of streets bounded by Green Lanes, Hedge Lane, New River and Hazelwood Lane, referred to as 'Palmers Green East CPZ'.

Given the responses received, the Council has decided not to proceed with the implementation of the proposed CPZ.

However, the Council is aware that there are some streets within the area where parking pressure is high and residents have expressed support for parking controls. The Council will therefore consider the introduction of parking controls in those streets where there is support.

The Council will write to residents of those streets in due course to seek their views on revised proposals.

Enfield Council Appoints Interim Chief Executive

20 February 2025

Perry Scott was appointed Enfield Council's interim Chief Executive by a cross-party Member panel. This follows the announcement that Ian Davis will leave the council at the end of March after 17 years.

Mr Scott is currently Executive Director of Place at the London Borough of Hillingdon and will join Enfield Council on 1 April 2025.

The appointment was made following a robust recruitment process with support from Penna, a specialist public sector recruitment agency.

Council Tax Raised by Maximum

20 February 2025

Enfield Council will raise council tax by the maximum 5% allowed after approving its budget for 2025/26 following a two-hour debate.

The rise means Band D households will pay an extra £85.86 per year, with the annual bill rising from £1,717.19 to £1,803.05.Council leader Nesil Caliskan said the authority had been "forced" to raise council tax by the maximum amount allowed without holding a referendum because of "chronic underfunding" from central government.

Buses Connecting Communties

4 april 2025

Urgent - deadline midnight this Sunday 6th April. We would be very grateful if you could take part and encourage others to take part in a questionnaire for the Transport Select Committee Inquiry ‘Buses connecting communities’ please. It would be good to opportunity for people to highlight the changes to bus stops in cycle lanes with the introduction of floating bus stops and the urgent need to get the bus to pull to the kerb so passengers can board and alight direct from the pavement without having to cross a cycle lane first.

This survey will be open until 11.59pm on Sunday 6th April 2025  and will take around 8 minutes to complete.
